One of the most common reasons you may not be getting hired is because your application and cover letter is holding you back. Those documents are the very first impression your hiring manager will have of you and if you don’t nail it, you’ll be passed on. If the manager sees that your uniqueness or abilities are lacking as an applicant, you can expect to receive that undesirable rejection email.
To avoid this situation, set some time aside to enhance your resume by adding an attention-grabbing intro, emphasizing your previous experience and accomplishments, and most importantly, modifying and tailoring it to every job you apply for. Don’t forget to research keywords and skills in the job’s description and add as much as you can into your resume and cover letter. If the company uses it as a scanner to run through your documents, it’ll pick up on all your hard work and move you to the next round.
